Microsoft offers some very useful tools for starting a home business or maintaining an existing home business. Here are five tools from Microsoft.com that are really helpful to online businesses and small businessowners with little start-up money.

1. Microsoft Office Accounting Express 2009

Microsoft Office Accounting Express 2009 is a basic accounting software program offered freely by Microsoft. In Microsoft Accounting Express 2009, you can import data from Intuit QuickBooks 2008 or Microsoft Money 2008, create invoices, quotes, track expenses, and process credit card payments.

Minimum System Requirements:

1G Processor

512 RAM

2G Hard Drive space

CD-ROM or DVD drive

Operating Systems: Windows XP (SP2), Windows Server 2003 (SP1) or Windows Vista

There are some limits in Microsoft Accounting Express 2009. For example, you must have Word 2002 or higher loaded on you PC to create customized reports, invoices, sales orders etc. Other features are only offered in the Professional version of the software. These include tax preparation reports, adding a PayPal button to invoices, and the ability to create a budget for your business.

2. Microsoft Live Office Website

Microsoft.com offers a free website when you sign up for a free Microsoft Live Account. You get free hosting, free email, 500MB of storage and you can create your web site using free templates offered by Microsoft.

With Skydive, you get 25GB storage and are able to upload files or photos up to 50MB. The files you upload can be kept private or you can share them with your Windows Live Network, people on you contact list or put them in your public folder to be viewed by anyone on the Internet.

4. Microsoft Office Live Workspace

Office Live Workspace allows you to save up to 5GB of files that you can access from almost any computer, all you need is an Internet connection and a compatible browser. With Office Live Workspace you can share you work with others and collaborate on documents so you are all working on the most up-to-date version of your documents.

Microsoft Office Live Workspace works with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. But you can also upload other types of files including PDF’s and photos.
